DELF B1 Vocabulary: Key Topics and Words

DELF B1 vocabulary is more abstract and varied than at earlier levels. For B1 you need vocabulary related to society, the media, the environment and workplace relationships.

Opinion and Argument Vocabulary

To express opinion at B1: *selon moi* (in my view), *à mon sens* (to my mind), *il me semble que* (it seems to me that), *je suis convaincu(e) que* (I'm convinced that). To argue a point: *d'une part... d'autre part* (on the one hand... on the other), *en revanche* (on the other hand), *néanmoins* (nevertheless), *c'est pourquoi* (which is why), *par conséquent* (as a result).

Media and Communication Vocabulary

Media vocabulary at B1: *les médias* (the media), *un journal* (a newspaper), *une émission* (a programme), *un reportage* (a report/feature), *un téléspectateur* (a TV viewer), *un auditeur* (a listener), *diffuser* (to broadcast), *informer* (to inform), *une interview* (an interview), *un communiqué de presse* (a press release).

Environment Vocabulary at B1

The environment is a frequent B1 topic: *la pollution* (pollution), *le réchauffement climatique* (global warming), *les énergies renouvelables* (renewable energy), *le développement durable* (sustainable development), *recyclage* (recycling), *empreinte carbone* (carbon footprint), *protéger l'environnement* (to protect the environment).
