Pass mark
50/100 overall plus a minimum of 5/25 per section (you can't fail on a single section alone)
Strategies to pass the DELF B1
- In listening comprehension, read the questions BEFORE the audio starts. You'll get 30 seconds — use that time to spot key words.
- In writing, count your words before handing in your answer. A 130-word letter when 160-180 is required automatically loses points.
- In speaking, if you don't understand the examiner: 'Pourriez-vous répéter, s'il vous plaît?' is perfectly fine and won't cost you points.
- The minimum score per section is 5/25. If one section feels weak, don't give up on it: 5 points are within reach with basic answers.
- Divide your reading comprehension time: 15 minutes per text. Don't get stuck on one difficult question.
